Common entry points include gaps around roof vents, soffit gaps, openings where pipes or wires penetrate the roofline, and damaged fascia boards. Rat snakes are the most common attic snake in Northeast Florida.
Signs of a Snake in Your Attic
Shed skins in insulation or near vents are the most common sign. You may also hear movement — snakes moving across insulation create a distinctive rustling sound. Occasionally a snake will descend into living areas through gaps around light fixtures, HVAC vents, or plumbing penetrations. If you find a snake inside your home, an attic population is a likely source.
Removal and Exclusion
Attic snake removal involves a thorough inspection, trap placement if the snake can't be located directly, and exclusion work to seal entry points. We also assess for and address the rodent activity that attracted the snake. Without addressing the food source, new snakes will continue to find their way in.
